A successful ski weekend at the Audi FIS Ski World Cup Adelboden

Last weekend, Adelboden hosted of the Audi FIS Ski World Cup. The OC can look back to a successful ski event with almost 40’000 visitors.

Since winter did start early in Adelboden the preparation on and off course went well. Due to very stormy days and strong rain the road between Frutigen and Adelboden was closed in the day leading up the event. However, thanks to numerous municipality workers and volunteers both races – giant slalom and slalom – coult take place as planned.
On Saturday the athletes were welcomed by sunny weather conditions and a crowd of 31’000 spectators. The races ended with the win of the Austrian Marcel Hirscher ahead of Henrik Kristoffersen (NOR) and Alexis Pintur¬ault (FRA).
On Sunday the athletes delivered a thrilling slalom fight where Marcel Hirscher (AUT) emerged as victor ahead of Mario Matt (AUT). Third place went to the Norwegian athlete Henrik Kristofferesen.
OC President Peter Willen was very satisfied and stated: „After stormy and wet conditions in the last few days it was a pleasure to welcome numerous ski fans and we can successfully look back to the last weekend. The atmosphere at the World Cup Village was cheerful and the two races make up for the hard work and terrible conditions we struggled with in the last few days”.
