Bruce Hamsteasd

Winterstart Events Ltd.

The Board of Directors of Winterstart Events Ltd has reluctantly accepted the resignation of Bruce Hamstead in his capacity of Executive Director, External Relations & Special Projects.

After many years of involvement with the World Cup at Lake Louise in a number of leadership roles including Chief of Race, Bruce has decided to step down.
On behalf of the many stakeholders involved in the Lake Louise Alpine Ski World Cup, we would like to thank Bruce for his passionate commitment to World Cup ski racing at Lake Louise.
His leadership has been instrumental in the development of the safety standards utilized in events worldwide as well as nurturing the development of the many volunteers currently involved in the event. Bruce was also pivotal in Lake Louise being chosen in 2003 as the only North American venue to join the Club 5, the group of classic alpine ski event organizers. Bruce’s contribution will be missed but not forgotten.
Bruce will continue to support Winterstart through July, 2015 when we will host the annual Club 5 World Cup Race Organizers Workshop in Calgary and Lake Louise.

As we bid farewell to Bruce, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Brian Lynam as our Race Chairman – Lake Louise Alpine Ski World Cup. Brian was the Chief of Race for our ladies events for 5 years before leaving Canada. Brian and his wife, Mimi have been living and working internationally for the last 6 years.
Brian’s alpine resume includes being a former board member of Alberta Alpine and being a parent to two retired FIS racers. While living out of the country, he continued to be active as an FIS Technical Delegate – returning to North America each year for updates and his TD assignments.
For our 2014 Winterstart events, Brian re-joined us as a course worker during Build Week and Men’s Week. This allowed him to get a firsthand look at the advances that have been made by the organization and its volunteers, both inside and outside the fences.
Brian is excited to return to the Winterstart leadership team to work with our many stakeholders. He has already met with the Executive Committee and is becoming familiar with the future opportunities and challenges facing the Lake Louise Alpine Ski World Cup continue into the future.
