The Gondola has its winner
Kjetil Jansrud & Dominik Paris
K.S.C. President Michael Huber officially opened the gondola presentation ceremony at the base terminal of the Hahnenkamm cable car at around 11.00 hrs. May spectators and guests journeyed to Kitzbühel to welcome the Downhill and Super-G winners. In addition to the special guests Kjetil Jansrud (NOR) and Dominik Paris (ITA) with their families in attendance, ARGE Consortium Partners were represented by Deputy Mayor Gerhard Eilenberger, Kitzbühel Tourism Chief, Signe Reisch and Dr. Josef Burger. Wonder Team members Ernst Hinterseer and Hias Leitner as well as Harti Weirather with his wife Hanni and Burghard Hummel also graced us with their presence.
Norwegian Kjetil Jansrud raced for the first time on the Hahnenkamm at the tender age of 19. He first proved his mettle in the Slalom on the Ganslernhang and, after taking a short break, ventured onto the Streif. Dominik Paris, runner-up and double Super-G champion, who was only a few hundredths of a second behind Jansrud, also travelled to Kitzbühel – even though he was officially resented with his gondola for his Downhill win in 2013.
The high point of the event was at the top station of the Hahnenkamm cable car, where the two festooned gondolas were waiting – number four bears the name of Kjetil Jansrud and number 45 the name of Dominik Paris. Accompanied by music, food and drink, the celebration in honour of the two athletes was held at the “Start Hut”, before finally winding down to a pleasant end a little later on.
