Last weekend, Adelboden hosted the Audi FIS Ski World Cup. The OC looks back on a successful ski event with 34.000 visitors. Since winter started in December in Adelboden the preparation on and off course went well.

For the first time in its history, Val Gardena/Gröden hosted also two ladies’ races in addition to the traditional super-G and classic downhill combo turning the “World Cup Christmas” into a “World Cup Christmas week”. The ladies’ races were originally planned for Val d’Isère but were moved early due to lack of snow. 

Austria’s Marcel Hirscher enjoyed a couple of more Italian days in Alta Badia during the past weekend winning once more the always challenging giant slalom and the parallel GS set on the treacherous ‘Gran Risa’ run.

On 8/9 December 2018 within the framework of the AUDI FIS SKI WORLD CUP a Ladies’ Super-G race and – for the first time – a Ladies’ Parallel Slalom took place on the World Championship run „Engiadina”. In dazzling sunshine and surrounded by the glorious mountain scenery of the Engadine the front runner Mikhaela Shiffrin secured a win on both racing days.

The fastest ski racers in the world descended on Lake Louise for the firstdownhill and super-G races of the World Cup season. The Lake Louise AudiFIS Ski World Cup is one of the select few on the World Cup circuit to holdboth the men’s and ladies’ speed events.

A new management was elected during the last Club5 meeting, which took place on 26 September on the occasion of the FIS Autumn Meetings in Zurich. 

It is with deep regret that we must inform you of the sudden passing of our much esteemed General Manager Hannes Huter.

The 31st annual meeting of Club 5 Ski Classics, the association of the 17 most venerable organizers of World Cup ski races, took place during the FIS Congress which is held from 14th to 18th of May in Costa Navarino / Kalamata (GRE).
