What is Club 5

It is a union of the leading alpine ski race organizers from all over the world.

What is its purpose

The primary objective of the association is the promotion and enhancement of alpine ski racing and the mutual exchange of experience within the framework of existing organisations and associations (FIS International Ski Federation; National Ski Associations) as well as the representation of the interests of the organizers to the attention of the FIS and the national ski associations, their bodies and their committees.

When was it founded

It was founded in 1988 upon the idea of World Cup founder and sports journalist Serge Lang. Charter members had been the “Five” downhill classic sites in the Alps”.

What was the first goal at the beginning

At the beginning, the aim was to assist each other in getting better income for financing their races (marketing cooperation).

What has changed in the past years

In the beginning, the aim was to assist each other in getting better income for financing their races (marketing cooperation), and after a few years, the goal of Club 5 changed into the direction of a service corporation for their members.

Who is representing Club5

The members meet at least twice a year to discuss several matters of alpine ski racing.

The actual president is Rainer Senoner from Val Gardena, who is a member in this function in the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup Sub-Committee.

Vice Presidents are Ole Kristian Kirkerud (Kvitfjell), Thomas Rechberger (St. Moritz) and Jan Überall (Kitzbühel).
