Arctic thrills at the Levi World Cup

A spectacular double race weekend wrapped up in Levi, where Mikaela Shiffrin claimed an impressive back-to-back victory and Lucas Pinheiro Braathen delivered a historic first win for Brazil.

Under a crisp blue sky, freezing temperatures, fresh snow, and flawless organisation, Levi (FIN) offered ideal conditions for top-level ski racing. The brand-new member of Club5 – and the first in the 2025–2026 Club5 race calendar – hosted a women’s slalom on Saturday, December 15. There, Mikaela Shiffrin extended her dominance on the Levi Black slope, capturing her ninth victory and adding yet another reindeer to her unique collection, followed by Lara Colturi and Emma Aicher on the podium. On Sunday, December 16, it was Lucas Braathen’s turn to make history, securing the first World Cup victory ever for Brazil, preceding last year champion, Clement Noel and Eduard Hallberg, the home athlete who gifted his public with a brilliant performance.

“We were very lucky with the weather,” said Janne Leskinen, LOC Secretary General. “The sudden drop in temperatures and fresh snowfall, combined with our snow-depot system, allowed us to prepare an excellent course. I am very happy we could deliver such a strong event in our first race as a Club5 member.”

Club5 board member Ole Kristian Kirkerud attended the races and praised Levi’s efforts: “The atmosphere here is amazing. Levi has been organizing World Cup events for more than two decades, and we are very pleased to officially welcome them into the Club5 family.”

The same sentiment was echoed by Club5 President Rainer Senoner, who was also present during the weekend. “We are very happy that Levi decided to join Club5 Ski Classics. It’s not just the race itself—the landscape, the space, and the sense of calm here are truly unique. It has been a pleasure to be here.” Senoner also highlighted the growing strength of the association, which now includes 26 members: “We hope that more organizers around the world will join us. Together, we can elevate the World Cup product and strengthen our position within the FIS family.”
