CORTINA AUDI FIS SKI WORLD CUP 2025

TEST EVENT PASSED WITH RECORD NUMBERS

Cortina d’Ampezzo, XX February 2025 – The Cortina Audi FIS Ski World Cup 2025, held on January 18 and 19 on the iconic Olympia delle Tofane, was a test event for Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Games that was successfully passed with flying colors. It confirmed Fondazione Cortina’s excellence in managing top-level sporting events. The racecourse and finish area were impeccably prepared, safety measures and healthcare systems met Olympic standards thanks to a well-established operational structure involving over 90 professionals and 350 volunteers, and close collaboration with local organizations. The event was closely monitored by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026, both of which acknowledged Cortina’s capability to host high-level international sporting events.

This stage of the Women’s Alpine Ski World Cup attracted 11,000 spectators to Cortina, not only from across the Veneto region but also from other Italian regions and abroad. This strong attendance demonstrated the area’s appeal and the efficiency of its infrastructure, which successfully accommodated athletes, fans, and professionals alike. The impact of the event extended far beyond the Dolomites, thanks to outstanding media and digital coverage: social media interactions reached record numbers, with a total of 12.6 million views, and 217 accredited media outlets, both national and international, brought global attention to Cortina and its World Cup races.

Great focus was placed on engaging younger generations, with 600 young athletes from Veneto ski clubs, 1,000 students from regional schools, and 21 students from the ITS Academy Turismo Veneto participating in an educational program during the event. This initiative plays a crucial role in fostering future professionals in sports and leveraging the opportunities presented by the 2026 Games.

The event also served as a model of inclusion and accessibility, made possible through collaboration between Fondazione Cortina, the Veneto Region, the Municipality of Cortina, and numerous volunteer associations. The slogan "sNOw DIFFERENCE," displayed on the athletes’ bibs, reinforced the commitment to a sport without barriers.

"We are extremely satisfied with the work accomplished and the results achieved—a success recognized by institutions, athletes, and fans alike, making this milestone even more meaningful. This test event confirmed that Cortina is ready for the challenges of 2026, thanks to a well-established organization and an extraordinary synergy between institutions, businesses, and the local community”, said Stefano Longo, President of Fondazione Cortina.
