Crazy weather didn't keep the spectators away
Adelboden
Strong gusts of wind, very mild temperatures for the GS on Saturday and a first very wet and snowy but later sunny Sunday: Weather played a major role in the 59th International Adelboden Ski Races on the famous Chuenisbärgli. Thanks to countless volunteers the athletes found excellent conditions on both race days. Throughout the whole event we can count on more than 3000 volunteers.
The bad weather didn’t keep the spectators away either. A total of 39’000 people made their way to Adelboden. Despite strong rain on Sunday a big number of 10’000 ski fans turned up. As the day got better and better they were rewarded by ski racing on a top level. For the first time this year families got special treatment on Family day. It proved to be so popular that the tent was sold out.
Austria’s Marcel Hirscher won the Giant Slalom, while Stefano Gross from Italy surprised everyone by winning his first ever World Cup Slalom.
