Club 5 Meeting in Garmisch-Partenkirchen

The 16 organizers of the International Ski Classic Racing Event Organizers Association, Club5, met to take part in their 8th workshop. Three days in Garmisch were filled with a variety of topics. This exchange of experiences greatly helps those responsible for the respective venues to maintain the quality of racing organization and standards in general to the highest possible level, as well as ensuring a unitary implementation of improvements in subsequent years. The FIS Race Directors in attendance also contributed positively to the discussions.

The first day of this working meeting was devoted to the topic of volunteers at Alpine World Cup events and the question of safety on the race course. The key issue for the future, "Event Production", was discussed extensively on the second day. This involves possible innovations with regards to the future presentation of World Cup races for spectators on site. Furthermore, a presentation of objectives was made by the "Equipment" working group; a study group launched by the FIS Alpine Committee and former athletes for issues regarding increased safety of race equipment. The day ended with a Q & A session about the upcoming FIS Autumn Council. On the third day, the economy was the core subject for discussions. Advertising values were analysed, taking into account not only the event sponsors, but the total advertising values produced at World Cup races.

Armed with this new exciting content and discussions, the trip moved on to Zurich, where the Club5 autumn closing session was held. A variety of new features and improvements are now planned for almost all venues in the coming season. With this in mind, everyone is eagerly anticipating the coming season and some exciting races.
