Women’s Ski World Cup in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, a great success!

We are proud to have held our 71st races at the Kandahar on January 25th and 26th, 2025!

We are very happy to say that the women’s Ski World Cup in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, was a great success!

In a nail-biting finish on the iconic Kandahar track, Federica Brignone emerged victorious, edging out her teammate and fierce rival, Sofia Goggia, by mere hundredths of a second in the battle for the downhill crown. The dramatic race took place against the backdrop of the stunning Bavarian Alps, as Brignone screamed with joy upon crossing the line, securing her fifth win of the season.

New traditions!
A new tradition was introduced at the women’s Downhill race: The “Speed Queen” was awarded a custom-made Dirndl with stitched finish time for her victory in the Downhill race, symbolizing the perfect blend of Garmisch-Partenkirchen’s rich culture and modern appreciation for athletic achievement!

The Dirndl was presented to the spectators right before the race – the model skied down the finish area with the Dirndl. Federica Brignone was very excited to win the Dirndl - it was fitted to her on the same day, was tailored during the night and was handed over to her on Sunday after the Super-G.

On Sunday, the Super-G took place in an again very crowded stadium. The last speed rehearsal before the World Championships: Intermediately three Italians led by Downhill winner Federica Brignone had taken the lead, before Swiss racer, Lara Gut-Behrami, intervened.
